Now THAT’s a Scary Thought

August 10, 2011

You know, I’m beginning to have some frightening thoughts. For example, on Monday, as I simultaneously watched the President say nothing useful and the Dow plummet nearly 200 points, I found myself thinking that maybe Joe Biden wouldn’t make such a bad president after all.

Yes, I know, good old open-mouth-insert-foot Joe, they guy who, while introducing wheelchair-bound Sen. Chuck Graham, called to him to “[S]tand up, Chuck, let the people see you!”

The same Veep who was caught on mike during the Obamacare signing ceremony telling the President, “This is a big f*ing deal!”

The very same gentleman who was confused enough to think that JOBS is a three-letter word. Ah well.

Regular readers here probably know that I started Obama’s presidency unhappy but willing to give the man the benefit of the doubt and hoping for his success in office. In the intervening years, I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s, well, an idiot. I know that sounds harsh, but really, how else does one describe a man who speaks of 57 states, who is the Commander in Chief of our armed forces and, in a rehearsed speech, mispronounces the word “corpsman” not once, not twice, but three times? What else could you call someone who thinks there is language called Austrian? Who makes jokes about the Special Olympics?

This is a president who, by his abject insistence on “leading from behind,” by his disastrous inaction, by his complete lack of engagement with his job and his nation, has allowed our nation’s  AAA+ credit rating to drop for the first time ever.

When you look at it like that, even Joe Biden looks smart by comparison!

So maybe it’s time for Obama to step down and let his inspired choice for Vice President, good old Slow Joe, fill out the remainder of his term.

At this point, Joe could hardly do worse.

Bin Laden Dead: Curb Your Enthusiasm

May 2, 2011

On the surface, the news is what we’ve all been waiting to hear for nearly 10 years: Osama bin Laden, the founder of the jihadist terror organization al-Qaeda and the monster behind numerous terrorist attacks, including the 9/11 attack on the US is dead.

All devout Americans celebrate his departure from this light and his descending directly into the bowels of hell.  Michelle Malkin has done her usual stellar job in listing some of bin Laden’s most dastardly deeds, in addition to 9/11. No person with a soul will miss the vicious bastard.

But before we declare today a national holiday, let’s take stock in some additional points that should be taken into consideration:

  • In a report from About.com, as of last week-end, 4683 American soldiers have died in the combined conflagrations in Iraq and Afghanistan since the launch of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) on October 7, 2001 and Operation Iraqi Freedom (beginning with the invasion of Iraq on March 19, 2003).  This does not take into consideration the number of deaths to coalition soldiers from other countries fighting in support of US Troops.
  • According to a March 29th report from the Congressional Research Service, Congress has approved a total of $1.283 trillion for military operations, base security, reconstruction, foreign aid, embassy costs, and veterans’ health care for the three operations initiated since the 9/11 attacks: Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) Afghanistan and other counter terror operations; Operation Noble Eagle (ONE), providing enhanced security at military bases; and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). This estimate assumes that the current CR level continues through the rest of the year and that agencies allocate reductions proportionately.

Looking at the above, bin Laden’s death comes with a mighty high price tag. But it shows the world, that the United States will not shrink away from a fight when we’ve been attacked. And whether it’s Afghanistan, Pakistan or Any-other-stan, you can’t hide indefinitely.

With the completion of the bin Laden mission, many will deem it time for American troops to leave the region. However, former President Bush added to the agenda as we moved forward. That goal was to establish a democracy in the middle-east region in hopes of creating some level of stability the region. Whether this was his Achilles heel, an idiot’s folly or a shrewd move will be debated for years. The bottom line is American troops are still there and will most likely still be in harm’s way in the middle east for years to come.

The Bottom Line:

When America was attacked at Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941, most of the Japanese celebrated their victorious moment. Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto was the only one who saw the bigger, more ominous picture as he (reportedly) said, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”

Osama bin Laden has now learned the meaning of the term “Terrible Resolve.”  However, we would be fools if we didn’t acknowledge that Muslim extremists are also filled with a terrible resolve now that bin Laden is dead. It would not surprise me if the word goes out from whoever no leads al-Qaeda, to seek revenge on the United States for bin Laden’s death. And the options they could possibly have in their possession already  include dirty bombs, nuclear weapons and who knows what kind of chemical poisons. Perhaps worse, given the porous American border (thank you Congress, Presidents Bush and Obama), these weapons could already be in place in numerous locations around the United States… perhaps even in your town or city.

Now, more than ever,  we need a true leader in the White House, one with the kind of experience and ability to make the right decisions in a timely manner. If President Obama was ever looking for the chance to prove his leadership capabilities, that opportunity now lies at his feet.

I’m glad the monster (bin Laden) is dead. But we’re a long way from being safe, my friends.

Birth Certificate Released… What Else Will Drop Today?

April 27, 2011

OK first things first… Here it is :

The New And Improved Birth Certificate

Birthers everywhere will be celebrating… then wondering what to do with the rest of their lives.  Donald Trump is already strutting like a peacock, claiming credit for its release.

With all the fanfare of a British Wedding, the media announced the release of what is purported to be the actual long-form Birth Certificate of Barack Obama.

So what’s wrong with this picture? As Glenn Beck would say, “Watch the OTHER Hand.” Beck is convinced Obama will once again use one significant event to draw attention away from something of even more significance. Perhaps. We will have to wait and see.

Beck could be right: Ben Benanke is scheduled to give the first press conference EVER by the Fed later today. What could possibly go wrong there?  Well, the bonds market is closing early today… just prior to Benanke’s speech. Does that make you feel all warm and fuzzy?

Either way, the Birth Certificate issue SHOULD BE PUT TO REST ONCE AND FOR ALL.

This just in from the Republican Party:

To: Donald Trump
From: Republican Party
Date: April 27th, 2011

In order to be taken seriously as a Presidential candidate for the Republican Party, you have to be someone who can address serious issues while being able to avoid attempts by the left to discredit you. In this case, you were played by Barack Obama like a cheap harmonica.

Donald? You’re Fired.

EXPOSED: Former SEIU Official’s Alleged Plan To Destroy America’s Economy?

March 22, 2011

For those of you who have thought conservatives have been over-reacting to Barack Obama’s ongoing tied-at-the-hip relationship to unions – specifically – SEIU: Sit down, shut  up and LEARN!

It’s an event that will undoubtedly cause Eric Holder to have to bury his head at least two feet below “See-level” (using union thugs to shield him, no doubt).

According to Business Insider, The Blaze and Glenn Beck,  former SEIU officer Steve Lerner has been caught on audio tape (recorded at in a closed session at a Pace University forum last weekend) detailing a secret plan that is designed to:

  • Nuke the Stock Market
  • Destroy JP Morgan-Chase
  • Destabilize our economy
  • Create the conditions for a change in government and a “redistribution of wealth”Watch the video. Note specifically, the comments of Steve Lerner that begin at about the 4:45 mark:

A copy of this tape has been forwarded to the Justice Department. Of course, the head of the Justice Department is Obama appointee Eric Holder who, in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” program last December, said that the prospects of domestic terrorism keeps him up at night:

“What I am trying to do in this interview is to make people aware of the fact that the threat is real, the threat is different, the threat is constant. The threat has changed from simply worrying about foreigners coming here, to worrying about people in the United States, American citizens — raised here, born here, and who for whatever reason, have decided that they are going to become radicalized and take up arms against the nation in which they were born.”

May I suggest, Mr. Holder, that not all terrorists use guns. Governments can be toppled using many different types of weapons and economic terrorism is one of them. May I also suggest, Mr. Holder, what you have here is nothing less than a conspiracy in motion to do just that: Use economic terrorism to bring down the government of the United States.

Nothing less than a full, public investigation, resulting in whatever criminal charges or, perhaps, charges of treason apply will be accepted by the American public.

Pardon my choice of words, but the you-know-what has just hit the fan, Mr. Holder. If you do anything to try to spin or lessen the preception of this clear and present danger, you are in violation of your oath of office.

To ALL Americans: The message of the American public to the Justice Department needs to be clear and united:

“Do your job, Mr. Holder.  Do. Your. Job.

White House Fly: Is It Racist When Liberals Criticize Obama Too?

December 8, 2010

By now, President Obama is used to being on the receiving end of criticism from conservatives. Ever since Americans started waking from their coma-like sleep-state (due largely to the efforts of conservative talk shows, columnists, and blogs), the more Obama’s alleged socialist agenda has been uncovered, the more conservative Americans criticized him.

Source: Geovanni's World

Now, with yesterday’s compromise with those hostage-taking Republicans on extending the Bush tax cuts for all income levels in exchange for extending unemployment benefits, Lord Obama suddenly finds himself in uncharted waters: He’s now being attacked by his own support base of liberals. Sadly for Obama, there isn’t a chapter in Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” that covers mutiny within his own ranks.  Perhaps it’s time for another trip abroad?

You may recall how the alleged comedienne/actress Janeane Garafalo defined any and all criticism of President Obama as merely ‘Racism, straight up” by those she dismissed as “teabaggers and rednecks.” One can only wonder if that applies now that the criticism is coming from his own supporters.

In fact, lets check with our old friend, “The Fly On The White House Wall” to see if  he can shed any light on this…  Read the rest of this entry »

Translating Obama (Without Rosetta Stone)

November 8, 2010

I’ve long believed in the value of speaking more than one language. Years ago, when I learned I was going to be sent on a business trip to the (then) Soviet Union, I studied the language for 4 months prior to my departure. It only half paid off, however, as I quickly discovered that, while I was able to speak to them with my well-rehearsed phrases, I had no idea how to translate their replies to me.

This led to some experiences best forgotten. And if  Pavlik is reading this, I swear I thought I was saying your wife had a big heart (not to worry, comrade, my eye socket healed just fine).

Oh Yes! Just ONCE, Please!

So it was with great wonder that I discovered Sunday night how easily I was  able to translate Obamish (the language of President Barack Obama) to English as I watched him on 60 minutes.

Here’s just a sample:

During the interview with Steve Kroft, Obama said the health care system itself is huge and complicated and that changing it eluded previous presidents because it was so difficult.

The Beck/Sharpton Rallies: A Telling Dichotomy

September 1, 2010

Glenn Beck has been putting himself in a position ripe for parody and ridicule lately.  Beck predicted a miracle would happen at the Restore Honor Rally. To those who  scoffed, I submit exhibit A:

Source: Video from Glennbeck.com

The military may have refused Glenn Beck a “flyover” to open his rally, but God didn’t disappoint. As the event prepared to begin, a skein of geese flew over in formation as if He was blessing the event from above.

Beck also predicted the rally would be “a defibrillator to the heart of America.”  I’m not sure about that, but after the geese thing, I’m not betting against it. In fact, I”m going to go so far as to say it’s official: America is emerging from its self-induced coma. The attendance at the rally alone established that.

Beck predicted the rally would be the next generation’s Woodstock. Let’s hope it was. Because just as Woodstock launched my generation’s justification for self (over-) indulgence to all things liberal, maybe this event can launch a generation that inspires the benefits of conservative values and an era of honor. By virtually all measures, the rally accomplished its goals. It was, indeed, a good week-end for those of us who still believe (as Ronald Reagan did) that America’s best days lie ahead.

For an excellent re-cap of the event, please check the guest posting by Doug Powers at Michelle Malkin’s blog

But there was also an unfortunate affirmation this weekend that racism still plays a major role in the lives of some who chose to belittle and besmirch the work of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

There were two rallies in Washington this past weekend. One headed by Glenn Beck and the other by Al Sharpton. Only one of the rallies stressed the kind of character, honor, accountability, and sense of unity necessary for America’s survival and recovery and was inclusive of all, regardless of race or religion.

It’s no surprise that it wasn’t Sharpton’s. Read the rest of this entry »
