Two things you have to admit about President Barack Obama:
One: He has no shame (except when he visits other countries and feels it’s to his personal advantage to apologize for America’s greatness).
Two: He is so totally out of touch with reality, he’s completely clueless as to the level of hypocrisy he has achieved in only ten months as President.
- He sent his minions on a mission to marginalize Fox news – the only major news network consistently willing to be critical of the Obama administration and to hold him accountable for his actions – by intentionally and purposefully excluding Fox News from being allowed to attend a White House press briefing about Obama’s pay Czar. In a rare display of intestinal fortitude, members of the White House Press corps representing other networks stated they would not cover the press conference without Fox being invited. Perhaps that was more out of “professional courtesy” than actual ethics.
- Obama is in a full-court press to either silence conservative talk radio or severely handicap it. He’s tapped FCC Czar/Diversity Officer Mark Lloyd, who praised Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez’s seizure of that country’s media, to develop and implement new restrictions that would make it difficult, if not impossible, for station owners to allow the successful conservative talk shows to continue. Lloyd proposes a licensing fee for privately owned stations equal to 100% of their operating revenue! Should this come to pass, talk radio, as we know it, would soon be gone. Freedom of speech would no longer apply to our radio airwaves.
- Jay Rockefeller (D – West Virginia) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) have been shaping a bill (S773) called the Cybersecurity Act of 2009. There are provisions to allow the President to cut off all civilian access to the Internet “in an emergency” as declared by the President. As written, however, it leaves the definition of “emergency” up to the President. And with Rahm Emanuel whispering in his ear about never allowing a good crisis to go to waste, hmmm… With so many successful conservative blogs on the Internet, would low Obama/Democratic poll numbers be justification to pull the plug on the Internet? Bear in mind that Rockefeller has been quoted numerous times saying he wishes the Internet had never been created.
Combine all of the above and you have effectively nullified one of the cornerstones of the First Amendment of the Constitution: The right to free speech. After all, free speech in a Socialist State could wind up with what we’re doing right now: Holding the heads of our government accountable for their actions. Remember that phrase for just a moment, will you?
Yet Obama is over in China, “nudging” their leaders about the importance of unimpeded access to the Internet for their citizens, saying:
“I think that the more freely information flows, the stronger the society becomes, because then citizens of countries around the world can hold their own governments accountable. They can begin to think for themselves.”
But… but… what about here in the US?
Are we not thinking for ourselves in this country when we tune out MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN and other mouthpieces for the Obama administration and choose Fox News for actual balanced coverage?
Are we not thinking for ourselves when we turned off Air America radio in droves and turned to Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh for talk show hosts that actually put truth ahead of pop culture propaganda?
Yet these are the very sources Obama wants to silence in this country… while insisting that people in other countries have unimpeded access to their media and the Internet?
While he’s looking for ways to reduce the freedoms we enjoy here in America, he’s trying to expand freedoms in those in other countries. Can we re-visit that Presidential oath of office he took? I think maybe he missed something important there…
Or, perhaps this what he was referring to when he told “Joe The Plumber” he wants to “spread the wealth around a little.”
Mmm-mmm-mmm… Barack Hussein Obama!
