Breaking News:
Secret Nuclear Enrichment Facility Uncovered In Iran –
Obama To Take Credit For Work Of  Western Intelligence

Pres. Obama Speaking (naturally), French Pres. Nicolas Sarkozy and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown at the G20 Summit in Pittsburgh

Iran has built (and has been hiding for years) a secret nuclear facility underground, according to charges made this morning by President Obama, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the opening of the G-20 economic summit in Pittsburgh.

According to this article on Foxnews.com:

Iran revealed the existence of a covert uranium enrichment facility to the U.N. nuclear watchdog this week after it discovered the project’s secrecy had been breached by Western intelligence agencies… [emphasis mine]

At some point, one would hope that it would dawn on President Obama that, without an intelligence agency like the CIA, which is able to operate in secrecy, this discovery might never have happened. Had it not happened, Iran might have been able to bring its nuclear weapons development program full-term without our knowledge.

Imagine that, Mr. President, as you continue to eviscerate both our nuclear defense system as well as our intelligence community through prosecution and exposure.

To quote those school kids in New Jersey:
“Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm… Barack Hussein Obama.”

BREAKING: Panetta to Resign?

August 26, 2009

RedState reports:

“I’m hearing a very credible rumor that Leon Panetta has dispatched a resignation letter to Barack Obama on vacation.

Panetta is said to be extremely angry about the possible prosecution of CIA officers doing their job and has decided to resign in protest.

The rumor is unconfirmed, but given the sourcing I think it is safe to treat it credibly.”

Just another day in the clown house.

UPDATE: Not true? “‘This report is false, wrong and bogus,’ said CIA spokesman George Little.” Wow! False, wrong, and bogus. Could it possibly be incorrect as well? Time will tell.

Area 51 Liberals: Welcome to America, America

July 2, 2009

Hey! Ever wonder how the percentages of conservatives vs. liberals breaks down on other less- than-purely-political subjects?

Let’s see… According to Gallup as of 2008, 76% of democrats believe that the effects of global warming have already begun. Only 41% of the republicans take that same view. But what about other stuff? The following is from Fox News:

Democrats are more likely than Republicans to say they believe in reincarnation (by 14 percentage points), in astrology (by 14 points), in ghosts (by eight points) and UFOs (by five points).

Hmmm… And then there’s this about the CIA lying to Pelosi…

The Rasmussen Reports survey reports that 62 percent of Democrats believe Pelosi’s account. In contrast, the same number — 62 percent — of Republicans believe the California Democrat is not telling the full truth.

Would anyone like to buy a bridge? That’s like me as a conservative saying, “Yes, I believe ‘No new taxes!’”

And the beat goes on…

The poll found that a majority of young adults give at least some credence to a 9/11 conspiracy compared to less than a fourth of people 65 or older. Members of racial and ethnic minorities, people with only a high school education and Democrats were especially likely to suspect federal involvement in 9/11.

But this is where we’re at, folks. This is who elected Obama. More likely than not, this is your neighbor.

Good luck.

Pelosi Investigation? No… Sosa? Yes.

June 22, 2009

Ever wonder what became of that little issue of either the Speaker of the House (two heart-beats away from the presidency) or the CIA being blatant liars? Forget about it. According to Glenn Beck, Congress is dropping that issue. Of far more importance in their minds is Sammy Sosa:

OK. Here is the hot list. These are some commonsense solutions to stories where the mainstream media is just not doing their job. This week, Congress has decided not to investigate Nancy Pelosi’s charge that the CIA misled her on the use of waterboarding on terror suspects.

I mean, why would we need to know who was telling the truth there? A congressional committee is investigating whether or not a baseball player, Sammy Sosa, misled Congress. He testified in 2005 that he never used performance-enhancing drugs. He reportedly tested positive in 2003.

Kind of says it all doesn’t it. Welcome to the uber-powerful world of Pelosi, Boxer, Franks, Dodds, ACORN, unions, etc., etc., etc. Welcome to the most corrupt, petty, selfish, idealistic, agenda-driven, elitist government of our time.

Breaking on Cavuto… Congress is now discussing taxing health benefits on workers making $100,000 or more. Whatever happened to $250,000?

More Liberal Unthink

June 7, 2009

Some time ago, we defined “unthink“. (It doesn’t take a great leap of imagination to figure out what the term means, but there’s your link anyway.) And so it goes with liberalism… Bush’s “torture” is cruel and doesn’t work, but Obama’s “rendition” goes unthought of and unspoken. Either Barack is a sadistic monster just like Dubya, or there must be something moral and decent to rough interrogation techniques after all. Liberals, explain to me where I’m wrong.

And on and on it goes… Liberal unthink: Either Pelosi is lying or the CIA is lying. Yet the liberals want to move on and unthink the whole misadventure in Nancy’s favor. Sandy Berger stole and then destroyed highly classified documents–and barely got a slap on the wrist for his pains. William “Cold Cash” Jefferson hasn’t resigned his Congressional seat, much less his committee post, despite being charged with 16 counts of bribery and influence-peddling. Just let the story wither on the vine. Better yet, unthink 500 tons of uranium yellowcake, and unthink the fact that Iraq was involved in terrorism.

You know, after a while, it all grows thin. The truth is right out there, but it seems that we as a culture have developed the unique ability to overlook it for the sake of moral and intellectual superiority and political agenda. Our liberal institutions (universities, media, government) have made an art of unthinking. What’s more…

Ah, the hell with it all… I’m tired and I’m going to bed.

No… The Pelosi Issue Should Not Go Away…

May 24, 2009

…And it must be resolved.

The talking heads on television are beginning to suggest that politics trumps the truth, and that the whole Pelosi/CIA issue will just disappear from public discourse.

It’s all too brutally simple really:

  • Pelosi accused the CIA of lying… In fact she accused them of lying all the time to Congress.
  • The CIA accuses Pelosi of lying when she says that she didn’t know of the harsh interrogation techniques already in use in 2002. The CIA says that they told her everything.

That’s it, that’s all… I don’t want to hear crap about “The Bush Administration” or “mis-remembered”. We’re talking about a Speaker of the House two heartbeats away from the West Wing, and the most powerful intelligence-gathering agency on the planet. We’re talking about the “right here and right now”. I don’t want to hear about “political stalemates”. We’re talking about national security of the highest order.

The politicians and the spies have crossed a line, and we all know it. Collectively speaking, one of them is lying out of his/her tail section… Let’s get this fixed and make sure that the despicable, hubristic, egotistical, unpatriotic, power mongering liar is, and make sure that he/she can’t even find a job scrubbing toilets with his or her eyebrows afterwards.

If we can’t do that much… Well… Our politicians are just pathetic jokes, and our media needs to grow some cojones and make sure this issue doesn’t just softly and silently vanish away.

Breaking: WH to Resist Release of Prisoner Photos

May 13, 2009

Fox is now breaking the news that President Obama will object to the release of the infamous pictures of the “degrading” techniques the U.S. military used on prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan. The ACLU filed a Freedom of Information Act requesting the release of those images… So, it looks like the ACLU and the White House are about to lock horns.

Now about those CIA memos… And what of those military commissions? And what of Gitmo?

Stay tuned.

(HotAir is also breaking this.)

CIA Shuts Down Its Secret Prisons?

April 10, 2009

The BBC is reporting that under the direction of CIA Director Leon Panetta, the agency will no longer resort to “black sites

Ummm… There’s a slight problem here. According to Panetta yesterday (April 9, 2009)…

But the CIA retains the power to detain suspects “on a short-term transitory basis”.

What does “transitory” mean? Does that mean just temporary in time or also in place? Keep in mind that back in February, Panetta said that he would not conduct “extraordinary rendition“… I wonder if after a few debriefings President Obama and Director Panetta are re-thinking this whole issue. And I’m not the only one wondering

The BBC’s Kevin Connolly says Mr Panetta’s statement has an impressive ring, but the CIA’s secret prisons may never have been elaborate affairs in themselves and decommissioning may be straightforward.

The key issue for the Obama administration, our correspondent adds, will be its policy towards suspects who fall into its hands, not the buildings in which they are held.

Said it before and I’ll say it again… Barack Obama will get what he wants… It’s just that no one knows exactly what that is.

OMG! Maybe It’s NOT Panetta?

January 7, 2009

Oh, for heaven’s sake, just make up your mind, man! Make a pick and stick to it! Do your homework first, of course, and consult with others to make sure that everyone will play nicely together in the big sandbox. But if this is what’s going to pass as business as usual in Obama’s term, I think we’re in for a bumpy ride.

Yesterday, at a “media availability” (what ever happened to press conferences?), PEBO was asked about the Panetta pick, and he oh-so-delicately started dropping hints that Panetta just may not actually be his pick for CIA head:

Question: Some are – some are questioning Leon Panetta’s lack of intelligence – lack of experience on intelligence matters. Sorry about that. I know this is tricky for you since you haven’t announced it yet, but what does he bring to the table for you?

Obama: Well, as you noted, I haven’t made – haven’t made a formal announcement about my intelligence team….

(cell phone rings)

That may be him calling now… finding out where it’s at.

I have the utmost respect for Leon Panetta. I think that he is one of the finest public servants that we have. He brings extraordinary management skills, great political savvy, an impeccable record of integrity.

As chief of staff, he is somebody who – to the president – he’s somebody who obviously was fully versed in international affairs, crisis management, and had to evaluate intelligence consistently on a day-to-day basis.

Having said all that, I have not made an announcement. [emphasis mine]

Is he backpedaling here? Will Panetta be thrown under the bus, as so many have been before him? Or will our intrepid Leon manage to convince both PEBO and Diane Feinstein that he plays well with others and doesn’t run with scissors? Tune in tomorrow, same Bam-time, same Bam-channel!

OMG! Panetta to Head CIA?

January 6, 2009

Panetta to run CIA? Sorry, bad idea! And a quick search of the Web shows why: Panetta has absolutely no experience with the intelligence community. Nada… Zip…

Ummm, here’s my suggestion… Let’s replace Panetta with one of our writers – Gerry Ashley. Gerry has limited experience in the USAF and the NSA – just a 3 or 4 years. But from a technical standpoint, he’s far more qualified for the mission of CIA chief than Panetta. Besides, Gerry is a decent, sober, practical, non-partisan, bright, honorable, and a no-BS workaholic. Heck, it doesn’t even have to be Gerry… Most of us know someone with similar character traits who have been burdened with (and handled) the load of dirty and dangerous secrets. Maybe he’s a police chief or a soldier… Maybe an airport security person or a Coast Guardsman. The country is littered with them.

But nooo. It looks like Obama is embracing a career politician whose foremost qualification to head the CIA seems to be that he has no “Taint of the Dubya”.

As a conservative (and perhaps like many conservatives), I’ve been pleasantly surprised (read “not horrified”) with Barack’s choices.  In the broader palette of Burris, Blago, Franken, Rush, Reid, and Richardson I’ve been able to sit back, throw up my hands, and gloat that it serves us right. In an “id” sort of way, there’s almost a tinge of humor to this whole farce. Think of Ozzie Osborne.

But that farce stops with the stuff of 9/11. The president elect should seek out the best to lead the CIA; he should not simply appoint a crony. For Christ’s sake, this is serious.

Mr. Obama, the head of the CIA has no time for on-the-job training. So please find someone else—someone who is even remotely capable for such an important position. Even if it’s just my friend Gerry.
