Scott Brown and the Wonderful Marvelous Very Good Day

January 12, 2010

What do you call a U.S. Senate candidate from Massachusetts – a Republican candidate, no less — who raked in  a cool $1.3 million bucks in grassroots campaign contributions in a 24-hour period?

Scott Brown!

Congratulations, Mr. Brown! Or should we say, “Senator Brown”?

America Rises, Part 1

January 11, 2010

With absolutely no apologies to Maya Angelou.

You may write us off as teabaggers
While you laugh and roll your eyes,
Try to buy us off with bribery
But still and proud, we’ll rise.

Yes, you’d like to see us broken.
Kneeling to a nanny state.
But we stand on our accomplishments.
We are all the things you hate.

Does our independence vex you?
Well, you take it awfully hard!
Once you fooled too many peope
Who are now alert, on guard.

So we’ll bid adieu to those who
Disregard our voices clear
And we’ll vote you out of office
In November of this year.

Out of the web of deceit and of debt
We rise
Up to a future that’s savable yet
We rise
We are a continent, noble and wide,
Growing in grace as we stand side by side.
Leaving behind all the liberal whines
We rise
We seek out leaders whose honesty shines
We rise
Bearing the gifts that our forefathers gave,
WE are the land of the free and the brave.

We rise

We rise

WE RISE.

“2010″ Theme Song For Taking Back America

January 10, 2010

Discouraged by the fact we have 3 more years of “The One” before we get to correct our mistake? Bothered by a Congress that wants to cram legislation down our throats that “We The People” have made clear we don’t want? Tired of the Freak Show that is Nancy Pelosi and Harry “We’ve Lost The War” Reid?”

Take heart, my friends! Lloyd Marcus, a self-described “Black Conservative Singer, Speaker, Writer and Artist presents us all with a theme song for taking back America in 2010.

In the vernacular of Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand,” I would have to say:

“I give it a score of 100, Dick… and yes, I’d dance to it.”

In fact, when it happens, I’ll dance all night long to celebrate the return of the American Government to its rightful owners: We, The People.

From the “What Took You So Long?” Department

It’s about time those almost mythological “moderate Muslims” put in an appearance, isn’t it?

Clearly these are Muslims who don’t want to rock the boat too much… It was only when an Islamic terrorist attempted to blow up a plane over their backyards that a handful of them sprang quietly into action. Very very quietly.

If Islam truly is a peaceful religion (as we hear so often), if only a tiny fraction of Muslims are terrorists (as so many insist), where are all these moderates, and why don’t they speak up with one voice and denounce these terror attacks? Why does it take an attempted attack over the largest Muslim community in the country for a few Muslims to softly voice their polite disapproval of the hijacking of their religion?

Is it possible that we all already know why, and are just afraid to voice the correct answer? You tell me.

Healthcare Bill Violates Constitution, Period.

January 7, 2010

Harry Reid has been boasting that his Healthcare reform bill is irreversable in places. Once passed, there is language in there that stipulates that it cannot be reversed or repealed by future Congresses.

In the section titled “limitations on changes to this subsection,” the wording states:

it shall not be in order in the senate or the house of representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment, or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection.”

Sorry, Harry, but at this point, you have crossed the line from writing legislation to attempting to sneak in a fundamental Congressional rules change. And if I’m not mistaken, you can’t pass a bill that changes the rules governing yourselves unless you have a two-thirds majority… not merely the 60 votes you have. That’s gonna take a lot more “Lousiana Purchases.”  But hey, since you’re arrogant enough to try to force healthcare down the throats of an American public (the majority of whom have made it abundantly clear they do NOT want this), I guess you figured you might as well slip in this gross attempt at hijacking the political system itself.

That dog  just won’t hunt.

Oh, you and your self-absorbed sycophants may get the automatic 60 votes to send it on to the President for signing in the wee hours of the morning (when no one in the Obamanation of an administration has to worry about transparency).  But if there are any working brain cells in the Republican Party, this will only result in a challenge that will, in all likelihood, stretch to the Supreme Court.

You see, Senator, there is a document you and your comrades in the Senate seem to have forgotten about.  It’s called The Constitution of The United States of America. I’m sure you’ve heard about it. It’s been in the news and everything. It’s looks something like this:

First Page Of The Constitution Of The United States

In fact, if you care to read it some time, you can see the original pretty easily. It’s right there in Washington DC in the National Archives. Don’t bother to bring your eraser, however. It doesn’t work that way.

In short, what you have written into your legislation is a combination of Senate Rule Changes and changes in how The Constitution of the United States works. Again, that takes a 2/3rds majority of Congress. Any attempt to  negate the Constitution in any manner is to break the oath of office you took and would officially reduce you to what the vast majority of us already know you to be: A traitor to your own country.

I doubt the Supreme Court of the United States would back you on this. That is, perhaps, unless the deciding vote is one cast by a “wise Latino woman.”

Obama, Congress Dems: “Screw Transparency!”

January 6, 2010

C-Span’s Call For Broadcasting Final Health Care Hearings Now Moot.

As reported on “The Hill,” House and Senate Democrats have agreed (at President Obama’s request) to forego the bicameral conference committee to merge the two healthcare bills into one for final signing by the President.

This all but renders moot the request by C-Span for President Obama to allow the conference to be televised for the benefit of the American public. So much for transparency. In bypassing the bicameral conference, that essentially eliminates the opportunity for Republicans  to have any input to the process of blending the two pieces of legislation into one or to raise any other issues about either version.

Perhaps worst of all, this virtually strips the process down to the point where we no longer have a representational form of government. So much for Democracy.

It may be legal, but it certainly should raise eyebrows from an ethics perspective. According to unnamed aides, an agreement to bypass the committee was reached during a Tuesday evening meeting at the White House between President Obama, Vice President Biden and the top two Democrats from each chamber.Once again, the meeting was held at night and behind closed doors to the public.

So much for the last shred of credibility of Barack  Obama who touted in one of his first news conferences as President nearly a year ago:  “Transparency will be the cornerstone of this administration.”

Yeah, and trust me: I’ll still respect you in the morning.

According to aides, the decision to scrap the conference committee was made to eliminate any possibility of Republicans employing procedural delay tactics. This political maneuvering may result in what the Democrats and President are looking for: A passable bill with the least opportunity for bi-partisan involvement.

It is also exactly the opposite of the song and dance performed by Obama during the primaries and the presidential campaign.  And, not that they give a damn, it goes against the position made clear consistantly by the majority of Americans.

Source: Rasmussen Polls

Rasmussen polls have shown consistency in regards to a majority of  Americans being against the changes to our country’s health care system.

If ever there was a time for the American public to band together in their objection to passage of healthcare reform, this is it. If it passes, America will no longer have the healthcare system that is the envy of people from all over the world.

While Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama will be celebrating what they undoubtedly will refer to as a great step forward, we will, in fact, be lowering our standards for all, adding a crushing debt to our already teetering economy and, in all likelihood, sentencing older Americans to a system that will turn away from them when they need it the most.

My personal commentary on this is very simple: THIS is the time to step up and demand accountability from those we send to Washington to represent OUR interests. THIS is the time to let your Congressmen and Women that this healthcare reform is  UNACCEPTABLE and you demand that the will of the people (as indicated in the polls above) be heard and respected.

We have reached nothing less than a watershed moment in America’s existence.  How it plays out will be determined by the actions “We, The People” take at this moment.  Speak up now, or kiss our health system goodbye.

Dodd and Dorgan may have taken the coward’s way out of facing the wrath of their constituents, but there are many more facing their own political mortality this November. Let them know what’s in store for them if they disrespect our wishes. Do it now.

C-Span To Obama: Put Up Or Shut Up

January 6, 2010

C-SPAN CEO Brian Lamb sent letters to leaders in the House and Senate on Dec. 30 in which he urged them to allow C-Span to cover “all important negotiations, including any conference committee meetings.”

Lamb offered to ”commit the necessary resources to covering all of the sessions LIVE and in their entirety.”

In short, he called upon the President to “walk the walk” and back up a promise he’s claimed for 2 years to do just that. In January of 2008, when then-Senator Barack Obama was mired in a campaign to grab the Democratic Nomination away from Hillary Clinton, he told America that his administration make sure health care negotiations would be available to the nation on C-Span:

“That’s what I will do in bringing all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors, but bringing all parties together, and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are.” (Emphasis mine)

It was Obama himself who, during his first month in office, announced that transparency would be a touchstone of the Obama administration:

Apparently, he forgot to notify Congress of the need for transparency. Or maybe he thought they undestood that when Nancy Pelosi told the American public when she became Speaker of the House in 2006:

“The American people voted to restore integrity and honesty in Washington, D.C., and the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history.”

So much for restoring integrity: To this date, none of the important discussions on this legislation have been covered on C-Span.  This, of course, has resulted in mysteries like “The New Louisiana Purchase“  where  Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu was given a $300 million “deal sweetener” (which, of course, comes out of taxpayer’s pockets) in return for her support in providing the one more vote needed to have the necessary 60 votes to end cloture and move the legislation to the next level.

Without TV coverage to worry about, others strapped on their feedbags and jumped on board the “Cloture Opportunity Express” including, Senator Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas who played her part, followed by Ben Nelson who also sold his soul vote for an exclusion of  Medicaid costs (costs which would be then passed on to be covered by other states, resulting in double taxation for the same service).

The behavior of the Democratic Congress throughout the process BEGS for the oversight of transparency, and who better to provide that oversight than the American people? Who knows? Maybe even the Mainstream Media (MSM) might even pull their heads out of their collective backsides to actually provide coverage.  I know, I know… and some day pigs may fly.

But least someone besides Fox is now calling out the President to walk-the-walk.

And that’s a first.

Stay tuned. Literally.

Also, Michelle Malkin has her usual excellent coverage on this.
