Don’t you suppose this is how Obama’s feeling these days?

Cat yodelling! (You thought it was going to be Monty Python, didn’t you?)
I’ll try it this weekend with The Cat and a video camera and see if it really works… maybe.

Yup… You heard it right. I say that we stop all this “torture” (like waterboarding) of terrorist prisoners and start giving them the kind of health care that the rest of the world will envy! Hey, we can either give them a choice to talk and live the easy and all too well known “Gitmo Life”, or we can give them the “Ultimate Health and Conditioning Treatment” (or UHCT) free of charge. So what is the UHCT?
The UHCT is better treatment than what we give to our own jailed prisoners, recruits, and/or the mentally challenged. Here’s a typical week…
Monday: Let’s start off with a thorough physical…
Tuesday/Thursday: Physical fitness
Wednesday/Friday: Attitude adjustment days
Saturday/Sunday: Entertainment
Of course, this schedule will need some tweaking, but you get the idea. (How about “Tear Gas Tuesdays” or Tazer Thursdays”?)
Now about food… Bologna sandwiches seems to be sufficient for a certain sheriff in Arizona, but we still have to be culturally sensitive. So I suggest that we also offer plain yogurt, tofu, lima beans, and calves’ liver — now that’s health food! As a special treat, we could serve up non-alcohol beer. Living large!
No doubt about it, UHCT is really little more than going to a rigorous health retreat (and lots of folks pay good money for a week or two at a health spa!), or spending time in prison. We could even pipe in bird songs… Lots and lots of bird songs.
But just remember: After Sunday comes Monday.
Ummm… Maybe talking and relaxing at”Club Gitmo” ain’t so bad after all…

UPDATE #4: FoxNews.com is finally reporting that Ms. McCorvey has been arrested, here.
UPDATE #3: According to WSBT News in South Bend, McCorvey has been arrested. Was she or wasn’t she? According to FoxNews TV, she was, but it’s not on their website yet.
UPDATE #2: According to AIPNews.com, Ms. McCorvey was not arrested earlier today. 20 others were, but McCorvey was not among them. We’ll be following the story and will update as necessary.
UPDATE: This was reported by FoxNews, but I can find no online source to back it up yet.
Via FoxNews: Norma McCorvey, the original “Roe” of Roe v. Wade, and 20 others were just arrested at Notre Dame as part of a group of protesters demonstrating against Notre Dame’s bestowal of an honorary degree on President Barack Obama, a man who holds radically different beliefs regarding abortion from those of the Catholic university and of the Catholic church.

As P.J. O’Rourke said, “If you think healthcare is expensive now, just wait until it’s free!”

Earlier this week, my husband mentioned that he had read that Israel was holding mock dogfights using both F16s and MIGs, which they got from who knows where. We discussed the implications of this off and on for the rest of the evening, wondering if this exercise heralded anything in particular, or was just a show of strength.
Robert Avrech at Seraphic Secret connects more dots. Lots more. Based on what the Israeli military has been doing recently, he wonders how much longer Iran will have a nuclear facility. Being a screenwriter, Mr. Avrech calls this “foreshadowing.” Not being a screenwriter, I call it “bad news for Iran”, but “forshadowing” works for me too.
1. The IAF borrowed Soviet MIG 29′s jets from a friendly Eastern European nation—I’m guessing Poland—and practicing dogfights and heavy formations with Israeli F16′s. Guess which country in the Middle East uses MIG 29′s?
2. Earlier this month, Israeli jets flew to Gibraltar and back refueling in mid air. The 2,361 miles distance from Israel mimics the distance required to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities from Israel.
3. IDF reservists were called up to practice manning the Arrow anti-missile batteries.
4. Over the past year the IAF has flown several combat missions into Sudan to destroy convoys carrying weapons from Iran to be smuggled into Gazastan. The IAF flew these missions without interference from a single Arab state. Again, the round trip distance is striking.
Heh. “Striking.”
Mr. Avrech goes on to point out that President Obama likely believes that his own personal charm, plus the diplomatic skills of his State Department, will be enough to prevent Iran from going nuclear, while the mullahs can barely conceal their amusement at such a conceit.
A nuclear Iran is a situation that the entire world should be taking far more seriously, especially with conditions in the Middle East as they are today. Make no mistake: if Iran attains its goal of becoming nuclear, it will use that power. And I believe Israel will only be the beginning. I agree with Mr. Avrech when he says:
I have this weird tendency to take it quite seriously when a holocaust denying Muslim Jew-hater threatens another Holocaust.
But that’s just me.
Sir, you are not alone in this tendency.
I sincerely hope that when Israel makes its move, President Obama will immediately throw the weight of the United States in the balance with Israel. A nuclear Iran threatens not just the Jewish state; it threatens the entire free world.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi just cooked her own goose once and for all. She’s still saying that the CIA never told her about waterboarding.
“To the contrary … we were told explicitly that waterboarding was not being used,” she told reporters, referring to a formal CIA briefing she received in September 2002. (WSJ: 5/14/09)
But there are a couple of small problems with her story… (I’m sorry, I lost track of the revision number.)
- Porter Goss, the then ranking Republican on the House committee was at that same 2002 meeting, and he says exactly the opposite.
- Leon Panetta (Obama’s CIA director) is dichotomous with Pelosi on this issue also.
Today, Nancy Pelosi had a great opportunity to weasle out of this entire issue by simply saying something like, “You know, the days, weeks and years after 9/11 were tumultous at best… I like everyone was afraid we were going to hit again… Maybe the issue of waterboard did come up in that meeting… The more I think about it, the more I become unsure… All I know is that I was determined to do my best to secure the safety of this country… Let me take a step back, review my records, and see what was really discussed. At this point I can only tell you that in 2002 I did what I did for the safety and security of this country. Now, what I believe is best for America at this point in time is to ban waterboarding.”
But nooo… Pelosi is out and out calling the CIA, Goss, and Panetta liars. That isn’t going to bode well for Pelosi if the “Truth Commission” becomes reality. All kinds of memos and notes will be revealed (including Nancy’s), and the facts about that fateful meeting will be out.
Ironic that lying about the lack of knowledge of a water-based interrogation technique will be the cauldron that cooks the Speaker’s goose.

P.S. Did you notice how Pelosi tried to weasle in the WMD issue? Deflect, Nancy, deflect! (By the way… I’ll respect Pelosi’s position on WMDs when she wades into the 500 tons of uranium yellowcake that we found in Iraq without wearing a hazmat suit. Ditto for any other liberal.)
Fox is now breaking the news that President Obama will object to the release of the infamous pictures of the “degrading” techniques the U.S. military used on prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan. The ACLU filed a Freedom of Information Act requesting the release of those images… So, it looks like the ACLU and the White House are about to lock horns.
Now about those CIA memos… And what of those military commissions? And what of Gitmo?
Stay tuned.
(HotAir is also breaking this.)
