Mad As Hell #3: Gwen Ifill???

THE VICE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE!

***** STARRING*****

Democratic nominee “Slow” Joe Biden: known quantity, Washington insider without peer, garrulous, gaffe-prone, condescending. Generally assumes there’s nobody as smart as he in the room.  Likely to be polite, but could get pugnacious if challenged, or even if not challenged.

Republican nominee Sarah ”Pitbull” Palin: outsider, largely unknown, bright, intelligent, likely all too well aware of what she doesn’t know. Hockey mom, so also likely to get pugnacious if challenged.

Debate moderator Gwen Ifill: Wait. What?? Gwen Ifill? The Gwen Ifill who recently wrote a fawning article about the Obama family for Essence magazine? No bias there!

The Gwen Ifill whose disdainful and dismissive ”reporting” on Sarah Palin’s first major speech at the Republican Convention filled the PBS mailboxes with comments from outraged viewers at her condescending attitude? Bias? Surely not!

The Gwen Ifill who was quoted in a Washington Post article referring to Sen. Obama, ”I still don’t know if he’ll be a good president. I’m still capable of looking at his pros and cons in a political sense.” Not “if he would be a good president” but “if he will be a good president.” Foregone conclusion. Obama = President. Nope, no bias there!

The Gwen Ifill who is writing an unashamedly pro-Obama book entitled “The Breakthrough”, due to be released on January 20, which of course, coincidentally is Inauguration Day? I don’t see any bias here!

Yes, that Gwen Ifill.

On second throught, clearly there won’t be any moderator at the VP debate. There will simply be two Liberals and a Conservative. My money’s on the Conservative, but it sure would have been nice to see a genuine unbiased moderator as well.

Get mad. Stay mad.

    Gerry Ashley here…

If you wish to voice your concern about having a person with a blatant agenda (the better Obama does in the election, the more books she’ll sell) as the moderator for the Vice-Presidential debates, why not e-mail Janet Brown, the Executive Director at the Commission on Presidential Debates (www.debates.org)

    Address your e-mails to jb@debates.org

I suggest you be polite but firm in demanding that Gwen Ifill is not fit to serve as moderator as there is a SIGNIFICANT conflict of interest where she has a pro-Obama book being released just before the inauguration. The fact that Ifill doesn’t have the character to step down on her own is proof positive she cannot and would not be objective.

Further, if this were a legal process, this would be grounds for a mistrial. Get your e-mails fired up NOW!
